Quaternary ammonium compounds (aka quats) are the most effective active ingredients that are used in disinfectants. Disinfectants that are quat-based have proven effectiveness against killing at least 99.9% of dangerous disease causing germs (Source: Arxada) such as Norovirus, Ebola, Coronavirus, SARS, MRSA and cold and flu viruses. These disinfectants are regulated by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and have gone through safety assessments from other national regulatory bodies. Quats are a non-corrosive alternative to bleach and chlorine and kill more than 150 types of bacteria.
